Another thing I like about the ZOWE extension in VS Code (I’ve got to find a shorter way of saying this…ZEVSC?) is being able to more easily view/print job output. Since I had already started the Open Mainframe Project’s COBOL Training Course, I had some existing jobs I could easily rerun. Submitted job output is […]
I’m sure that all theses details would be pretty tedious to anyone else. But again this isn’t really a blog meant to hold other peoples interest…it’s a log for me. As I said in this post “I’ve technically finished the MTM course but as long as I still have access to z/OS I would still […]
While attempting to connect today I received a timeout. So I checked the Slack System_Status channel and nothing reported. I also checked connection_issues…nothing reported. I tried again…same problem. Finally rechecked connection_issues and someone reported the timeout. The response was something like it was Upgrade Sunday. Doesn’t Slack have a stick lead page feature (or whatever […]
Well as I expected being able to edit my z/OS mainframe programs with VS Code makes things much easier. Don’t get me wrong doing it the traditional harder way on a 3270 screen is good to know. When I was punching cards, I would have killed for ISPF on a 3270. Anyhoo… I didn’t want […]
Just got email Congratulations on finishing Part 1 of Master the Mainframe Learning System!! which is funny because I finished Part 3…6 days ago!
The admin (Paul) reset my password and it worked. He said he’s seen issues with RACF where that fixed it. Now I can work on the REXX program if I don’t get too distracted. At any rate it is nice to have it working in VS Code.
Even though I technically finished the MTM course as long as I still have access to z/OS I would still like to work on the final challenge using the zowe extensions in the VS Code editor. Up until now I used the old school TSO/ISPF in a 3270 emulator. Without being specific I have over […]
I thought this was a good intro into z/OS. I had been playing with MVS on Hercules, and I wanted to have some idea on how MVS and z/OS differed. Is MVS so old that I’m wasting my time learning it? Other than obvious improvements over the years, I found the biggest differentiator is the […]
Got my 3rd and final badge from IBM’s Master the Mainframe course! https://www.youracclaim.com/badges/d9b54bd7-1cab-400f-bbab-f1cd3fe8c8f7/linked_in_profile
Got email “Congratulations on completing Part 3! You have made your way to the end of the Learning System challenges”. I don’t think I really am finished. Was working on the final challenge. Through out course it was said it’s not a race. Also I wanted to go back and check my answers because as […]
