Open Mainframe Project – Printing job output

Another thing I like about the ZOWE extension in VS Code (I’ve got to find a shorter way of saying this…ZEVSC?) is being able to more easily view/print job output. Since I had already started the Open Mainframe Project’s COBOL Training Course, I had some existing jobs I could easily rerun. Submitted job output is available under the Jobs tab in the ZOWE panel. This output can easily be downloaded to my local Linux computer.

There is just something cool about seeing “IBM Enterprise COBOL for z/OS 6.3.0” on a Job page. You get two…two…two mints in one! IBM Enterprise COBOL and z/OS 6.3.0

Also with the output downloaded, I can easily create a greenbar PDF.

So with a few changes to my greenbar program, to use ANSI carriage control characters in the 1st character position… I get this, with the IBM Enterprise COBOL for z/OS 6.3.0 at page top. Welcome to the 21st century, 60 yo COBOL!
