Boeing’s use yokes… Airbus uses side sticks (joysticks).

Tablets in Aviation

I often see these tablets in the plane, an thought I should comment. Apparently ForeFlight is the killer aviation app, and it only works on a iPad. I saw this interesting question… How do you use ForeFlight in your iPad if it is only an WIFI iPad ? @MidlifePilot 3 years ago I assume you’re …

The Cirrus Vision SF50 uses a joystick to fly

I keep talking about buying a yoke, but I just realized my favorite plane to fly in X-plane 11, uses a joystick or sidestick.

Speeding up Time in X-Plane 11

I learned about altering time, because as fun as X-Plane is, it operates in real time. And flying miles over flat land, from Ft. Lauderdale to Tampa, for instance, or vast distances over water, can be pretty boring in a simulation. This wasn’t possible with my old graphics card. Ctrl+t sim 1x,2x, 4x sim speedAlt+t …

Flight Simulator Training

Was glad to watch this video. As you can see, one of the bullet point, points out that “The sim is almost always harder”. He then goes on to specifically talk about trimming. Thank you… so its not just me. This is why I almost always fly using Heading and Vertical Speed in autopilot. I …

Honeycomb Alpha LITE

I have a joystick, that is certainly better than keyboard/mouse for X-Plane 11, but I’ve always wanted a yoke. I was considering the Honeycomb Alpha. But recently learned about the Honeycomb Alpha LITE which is basically $100 cheaper.

New scenic airport- KCLM

Saw it on a real (NOT simulator) YouTube video. Nice on X-Plane 11 too. KCLM – William R Fairchild International Airport, Port Angeles, Washington, USANice airport. Mountains to the right, taking off from runway 80 (or 08?) , water to the left

X-Plane 11 flight plan error

Took a few hours flying various planes (Cirrus & Skyhawk) out of various airports. At one point I tried to fly a Cirrus Jet out of Ashville, NC (KAVL), but I couldn’t load a premade flight plan. I kept getting errors that I just quickly glanced at. What is wrong with this flight plan? Then …

Document Ascend/Descend procedures in X-Plane-11s Cirrus

Wanted to do this using auto pilot, but forgot how. So figured it out and documented it in my Quick Start Guide.

Playing with X-Plane 11… again!

Story of my life. Get a little comfortable with it. Then leave it for a few months, then return. Then I forget the many little ways of X-Plane 11. I think I could get farther if Twitch had some videos of people flying normal general aviation planes. But nooo, everyone want’s to show that they …
