Spotify bandwith

Was watching a Spotify podcast. And wanted to do other things. Also the video in this case wasn’t important, because it was just 2 people talking to each other. So I closed the video. I switched to a monitor running in a virtual desktop. I expected to see a dramatic decrease in bandwidth, but as can be seen below…NOTHING CHANGED! Yes I waited for a while before arriving at this conclusion. I should mention that I was using the Firefox browser, because it could be important. Now I remember the modem days. I also remember using smaller images in a webpage to decrease load time. Were talking saving several hundred K’s. Which is nothing compared to video bandwidth. Unnecessary bandwidth waste is something that bothers me. So it appears that closing the video didn’t actually change what was being transmitted. Why unnecessarily waste bandwidth? It’s as if internet speeds are so fast today that it’s no longer a concern for web developers. But it is to us when you need to update your internet because the internet is slower because of the cumulative waste of many users. I’m sure it’s not just a Spotify problem.
