Battery doors

A little rant about battery doors. Why are so many so hard to close properly or at all? I bought a electronic timer. It works fairly well. But from day one, the door wouldn’t close when the batteries were installed. there were plastic bars on each side of the door that would contact the battery keeping the door from closing. I attempted to snip away these bars which helped but I still couldn’t properly close the door. Finally, for the sake of my blood pressure, I just leave the door off. But psychologically that bugs me. I should be able to close the damn door to secure the battery properly and keep dust out. I also have a fairly nice electronic bathroom scale and the only way to keep the stupid door closed is to tape it shut. WTH?

Also why is it so hard to figure out the orientation of these doors. Some are obvious… many are not! Does it close this way or that way? It’s almost to the point that you should take a picture of it closed from the factory.
