Evidently I renewed my web host

I guess I’m getting old, because I don’t remember doing it. I had a slight panic when I thought I should have renewed 5 days ago. It will be my last renewal at this price (as an very old client, $50 is about my limit), which will probably only go up from here. I was going to move a few years ago, because of a price increase because I requested more space, but someone at my current “this” host gave me the old price because they saw I was an old client. Well this host owners have changed hands since then. I appreciated my old host valuing my many years with them. I think I’ve been with them July 2007. I’m a good client who rarely bothers them with issues. I know they have other clients paying the same price, but I’m sure on average they are a bigger PITA than me. At this point all I really want is a WordPress package for this log file. Probably will start with NameCheap, because they had good packages back then, and were the ones I planned on moving to,before the past ownership showed their appreciation by offering me a great price/plan.

I found the old email/offer, back in July 2018

You recently filed a cancel request for your hosting account for billslittlewebsite.com

We found that you were on a VERY old hosting plan which provided very little resources. If you wish to continue, we will give you a FREE upgrade to our Hosting-ONE Plan which provides 50GB Space, compared to just 800MB with your old plan.

Would you like to take this offer and upgrade your account?

So much of the functionality that was important to me in the past is not so important today. I proved to myself that I could build a dynamic site using PHP/MySQL that ran over 20 years. Most of the PHP code has barely changed, not to say it shouldn’t have. I was learning and coding. Probably a lot of poor code, and things I would do different today, from back then. But it still works.

I’m getting old and may not even be here in a few years. But that’s all in God’s hands.

Actually a quick look at NameCheap, shows slightly cheaper, but the 1st year is <$30…

Also this is cheaper than their managed WordPress packages, which is probably geared towards novices, and includes mailboxes which I use. It also includes MySQL or PostgreSQL databases which is cool.
