On Manjaro, being that I use KDE, for text files, I’d prefer to use the KATE text editor. I thought I had a problem…and did. But I just found, while researching this for this post, it is a fixable problem. Long story short, Kate was adding a CR to the end of my files at save, even if I didn’t! The solution was to uncheck “Append newline at end of file on save” in Settings>Configure Kate>(Editor Component)Open Save>.
