Linux Academy…day 6 (cancel)!

Cancelled my Linux Academy trial with the explanation…
I’m still in 7 day trial however I haven’t been able to sign onto my playground server since the morning of the 9th (3 days ago!). So today marks the beginning of the 4th day I have not been able to use the 7 day free trial! I was in a lecture about containers and was told to spin-up a server. I got a “Login incorrect” error and reported it. I got a request on the 10th to try something and “let me know if the error continues”…which I did and it still failed. So I replied like the email requested, I even sent a small video showing what I did…along with the error…but have not received any other interaction since then. The videos are nice but the ability to actually try things interactively is a key selling point to your service. I can watch videos on YouTube! It’s a shame because I was looking forward to using your service and taking advantage of your Black Friday sale.

In his (support) email he showed me a after screenshot of his logon to my server. I could also show a screenshot of my “Login incorrect”. However that doesn’t answer…did I type in the right password…or was caps lock on. But the video does because right after the error I open a simple text editor and paste in the contents of my clipboard…which matches the password he told me to use!

Even though I’ve been using Linux for almost 25 years…I don’t consider myself an expert. Certainly knowledgeable in many areas, but not an expert.

I’ve been logging into Linux for 25+ years and daily for probably 15+ years but they don’t know that…so I provided the video so they could actually observe what I did. I also frequently logon into my headless Ubuntu server that I use for my NextCloud server. I copy a cryptic password from Keypass and paste it in for access. So there’s nothing magical to the process…to me. But once again…they don’t know that!
