Solar System? Sounds like a astronomy course. The course name is “Design Your Own Off-Grid Solar System: A Step-by-Step Guide”. So the course did not teach me how to “Design my Own Off-Grid Solar System”.
It talked about Solar Panels and Batteries… 3 sections later for example. Both relevant. But it didn’t talk specifically about the process of combining them. Thank goodness for free YouTube.
I was told “This course is not eligible for a refund based on your viewing history. In accordance with our refund policy, you have watched too much of this course to request a refund.”
That may have been true true… on that day, I requested the refund. However I asked a question very early in the course (Section 2, out of 9 sections or subsection 7 out of 72 total sub sections) that probably would have led me to request a refund much earlier. At the time of the question I was told “Given our current workload, we are able to respond within 12 hrs”… that didn’t happen. The question still hadn’t been answered 6 days later, when I asked for a refund. I went through more content hoping to learn something applicable to what I was trying to learn, and didn’t find much… just a few terms. And terms don’t help me design a home solar setup.
The question I asked was regarding a whole sections about gas generators. I asked “I’m aware of gas (or fuel) generators, however being that this is a course about Solar, why are you even talking about them? I could “guess” that it’s for backup when there is no sun. However you never explain why you discuss this topic, you just go from talking about solar panels to talking about internal combustion generators”
Quite honestly, I don’t know what the next section about Alternators has to do with “Designing my Own Off-Grid Solar System” either.
I’ve watched a lot of YouTube Solar Off-Grid Solar courses and as I said I can see gas generators sometimes being discussed for backup. However they have nothing to do with actual solar power. And I don’t ever remember Alternator being discussed at all regarding solar. That’s 2 sections out of 9 sections having nothing specifically to do with using solar energy, or over 20% of the course. If anything, I could possibly see discussing gas generators at the end of the course. The first section was about solar panels which you absolutely need for a solar power setup. But again a gas generator has nothing to do with using the sun for solar power. They can be used for prolonged days when there is no sun.
I’ve taken plenty of courses that I haven’t finished for various reasons. But I still felt they represented what I signed up for, and didn’t request a refund. Their response to my refund request makes it seem like I’m trying to scam them.
