As an early riser it suddenly became apparent to me that Redshift isn’t working. So I thought I’d try running it manually, with redshift -l lat lon &. The screen started redshifting on and off. But I noticed this message “Could not connect to wayland display, exiting. Failed to start adjustment method wayland”. Trying next method.” and it just kept redshifting on and off it never exited per the &. Does that mean Linux Mint changed the default to wayland?
This command, says no…
bill@bill-MS-7B79:~$ echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE
x11
bill@bill-MS-7B79:~$
I remember in the past you could choose to try wayland at login. See here.
Googling, suggests it’s a bug. Found this on redshifts github page…
[bug] Could not connect to wayland display, exiting. Failed to start adjustment method wayland. #888
The above “bug” is closed. However, this one is open
Could not connect to wayland display, exiting. #897
Anywho, it’s early and github’s page is white and it’s hurting my eyes. So I’ll look at it later!
