Earliest pic of me using a computer

Actually on a terminal connected to a DEC PDP-11/40 or 45, I think, I don’t quite remember. I don’t remember why this was taken, or how I originally got this slide. I never took any slides or had equipment to display them. It must have been something school related. I knew I had it somewhere and looked for it for years, and just stumbled upon it while cleaning a room. I watched a YouTube video that showed this cheap technique to get the image. It required me to place it on a lighted background, so opened a text editor on my laptop. It picked up some lines from that screen. But not too shabby. This is probably around 1977 or 1978 I would guess. I worked as a tutor in this room and brought the PDP down on weeknights, and up and down on Saturdays. I talk here, about a program I wrote to monitor student usage of these terminals.

I had no idea what model these terminals are. And out of the blue as I’m typing this… Hazeltine popped into my brain. So I googled it and found the Hazeltine 2000. It’s truly a miracle that I remembered that name from 40+ years ago. I can barely remember what I had for lunch yesterday.

I found a PDF that shows what those funky looking switches on the right are.
