Tumbleweed updates

So basically after 2 months I decide maybe my issue with Tumbleweed’s updates have been resolved. So I go back in and try updates again, and as seen below I get “Repository ‘Main Repository (NON-OSS) (20211019)’ is invalid.

Well that doesn’t seem good when I’m trying to update my system. Surely in 2 months someone else has got this error “Repository ‘Main Repository (NON-OSS) (20211019)’ is invalid” and reported it. I’m just basically using/updating my system. I’m not a heavy customizer. I’m not going in and pointing the repositories somewhere else. So the only thing I can assume is that a previous update…updated the repositories! Maybe that’s not what happened but that’s what I assume.

As updating your system is very important…it seems to me changing the main repository would be something very hard to do. They should always point to the same place. Or point to a never changing url that tells your system where the important repositories are. As a matter of fact this thought just came to mind. Download and reinstall Tumbleweed again. Then write down their locations for something to compare against if this happens again. As a matter of fact I did this AFTER the failure using this command

zypper lr -d

And for that particular repository, it reported

download.opensuse.org-non-oss | Main Repository (NON-OSS) (20211019) | Yes | (r ) Yes | Yes | 99 | rpm-md | http://download.opensuse.org/history/20211019/tumbleweed/repo/non-oss/

Which looks official

However in looking at this I realize it’s not the first part that (appears static) they call the Alias that’s the problem…it’s the second part they call URI which is http://download.opensuse.org/history/20211019/tumbleweed/repo/non-oss/ that is the problem. Most likely the date part 20211019 which is 2 months old at this time. And definitely isn’t static! But I didn’t change this!

Some post suggested…

sudo zypper -vvv ref
In which reported among other things…

So many people are successfully using OpenSuse. Not the 1st time getting this. What am I doing wrong? I’ve used/updated Mint for years and don’t ever remember getting an error like this…in a GUI no less which seems more prone to have problems. Basically I do the following 2 command line…commands , in a terminal.

sudo zypper refresh
sudo zypper dup
